The cycle count is listed under 'Battery Information' section. Under 'Hardware' section of the System Information window, choose Power. Hold Option key and click the Apple () menu. You can also check the status of your battery in the software menu. This is not a defect trackpad but an expanding battery pressing against it. In that case usually your trackpad will stop clicking. In some cases you might need a battery without prior warning.
